Electrolytic Capacitors
Electrolytic capacitors provide cheap uF, but their sound quality is "usually" disappointing. I want to share their measurement results. It is very hard to find an electrolytic capacitor that can keep good phase response over audio frequency range from 20Hz to 20KHz. 

Other important thing is smoothness of the response. 

​All measurements were taken on same test equipment. Result may vary with different test condition.
Nichicon Muse 470uF 25V:
Crossing 0 degree at 10.8KHz (no longer acting as a capacitor)
irregular response at 40Hz, 60Hz and 10KHz.
Nippon-Chemi 36DA 6000uF 400Vdc:
Crossing 0 degree at 3.8KHz (no longer acting as a capacitor)
irregular response below 50Hz and 300Hz.
Nippon-Chemi 36DE 19,000uF 60Vdc:
Crossing 0 degree at 2KHz (no longer acting as a capacitor)
irregular response below 10Hz.
Nippon-Chemi KMH 13,000uF 80Vdc:
Crossing 0 degree at 3KHz (no longer acting as a capacitor)
irregular response below 70Hz.
Nippon-Chemi SMM 680uF 420Vdc:
Crossing 0 degree at 20KHz (no longer acting as a capacitor)
irregular response below 100Hz and 300Hz and around 3K to 10KHz.

This capacitor has clean phase response. (but only 1uF)

This capacitor has clean phase response. (but only 4.7uF)
