Teragaki turntables (Audio Technica, Richo, SEIKO-EPSON)
Early 90's, My friend gave me a book about Mr. Teragaki, Inventor, the man who designed legendary Seiko-Epson turntable.
Audio Technica invested him over $3 million for his turntable development. Though, they decided not to market as a product. CD was there and $100K turntable was not practical at the time...
Audio Technica T1 (Design #7):
Vacuumed surface
auto disk centering
linear tracking arm, the massive tonearm does not go up and down, the turn table does go up and down
In 1987, Σ-3000 was sold for 2300K JPY (over US$20K).
I still want to own his Σ-3000. I only saw and heard twice at his office in early 90's...
I heard Σ-1000 is almost there...
